Australian-based Antilles Gold has identified a second potential project in Cuba for its joint venture with state mining company GeoMinera, in the remains of a Russian mining company’s abandoned Cold War-era mine.
Antilles says a review of geological data has revealed an inferred resource of 2.25Mt@ 1.58% for 73.38Mlb copper, 2.51% for 124.49Mlb zinc and 16.5g/t for 1.19Moz silver at the Antonio deposit.
The deposit lies within the bounds of its 49-51% JV with GeoMinera that’s focused on the potential 100,000ozpa La Demajagua gold-silver openpit mine in SW Cuba.
