Australian explorer Siren Gold is following up the potential for an underground development of New Zealand's largest undeveloped gold deposit, the Sams Creek project.
Sams Creek, in the Golden Bay region of the South Island, has been explored by previous owners considering an openpit mining scenario including large areas of low-grade mineralisation.
Siren identified significant potential for a large underground mining operation of theSams Creek Dyke, which is up to 60m thick and can be traced for over 7km along strike. Its vertical extent is at least 1km, and it is open at depth.
