Bravus Mining and Resources, the renamed Australian arm of India’s Adani Group, is on track for first exports by year-end from its 10Mtpa opencut thermal coal mine in the Galilee Basin of central Qld after exposing its first coal seams.
India will be the foundation customer for the mine, contributing to Adani's proclaimed sustainable energy mix that incorporating coal, solar, wind and gas-fired electricity generation.
Bravus has awarded over $A1.5B in contracts for the Carmichael development, comprising the truck and shovel mine and coal handling and preparation plant plus 200km narrow-gauge railway connecting to existing rail infrastructure.
Carmichael mine coal will be railed over 300km to Adani's North Queensland Export Terminal at Abbott Point, 25km N of Bowen.
CEO David Boshoff says Adani will acquire the coal at index pricing, avoiding transfer pricing. “India gets the energy they need and Australia gets the jobs and economic benefits in the process.”
