Changes in the mine plan at its MATSA operations in Spain forced by poor ground conditions in the main production areas at the Magdalena mine has lowered Sandfire Resources’ Dec qtr (Q2FY23) copper production, with impacts for its FY23 guidance.
Q2 group production of 20,031t copper (Q1: 28,056t), 19,755t zinc (19,535t)., 1,921t lead (2,477t), 4,562oz gold (8,215oz) and 0.6Moz silver (0.7Moz). C1 costs for the period were $US1.77/lb Cu ($1.783/lb).
With MATSA copper production now expected to be at the lower end of its 60,000-65,000t range, Sandfire has maintained FY23 group production guidance at 83,000-91,000t Cu, 78,000-83,000t Zn, 6,000-10,000t Pb, 12,000-14,000oz and 2.2-3.2Moz Ag.
